Xplordesign is the creative mind of web designer and programmer Jeremy Swinarton, a graphic design student living in Toronto, Ontario. I've been doing small-scale websites for local and global clients since 2005. I specialize in web design, but I also do print, including but not limited to posters, ads, business cards, logos, and general corporate branding.
My interests lie in two distinctly separate areas, which are technology and the fine arts; graphic design is the culmination of those two interests. I also have a strong passion for photography, and can do commissioned stock photography on request. Interested? Check out past works, or shoot me a proposal.
My education as a web designer comes from two separate areas. The discipline of visual arts provides me with the concepts of line, shape, form, and spatial sense; the formulaic concepts of computer programming provides me with an adept knowledge of several different programming languages, including XHTML, CSS, ActionScript (for flash-based sites), and PHP and MySQL database languages. These two skill sets will produce a beautifully polished and complete website that works seamlessly for you and for your customer. Traditionally, designers are educated only in the principles of art and spatial sense, and find themselves at a loss to produce a functional, light-weight website for a client.
About this site's design: The hybrid duality was an idea I wanted to make a fundamental part of this site's design. As a result, this website has two separate colour schemes: one during the day, and one that changes dynamically in the evening.
As a designer, it is not only my job to produce something that is aesthetically perfect, but also something that's seamlessly functional. I have to get down to the nitty-gritty and make sure that every letter is perfect, every colour works with the other, and on a larger scale, all the print and web design that comes in a package works together with each other. I work with you, the client, with thumbnails, sketches, layout comps and proposals to make sure that what you want is what you get, and what you want is what your audience wants. Put simply: I make sure your site works.
Currently working towards a Bachelor of Design at the York University/Sheridan College Joint Program in Design '12.
